We all want students to be motivated to learn and to conduct themselves properly...

However, too often we just focus on telling them their responsibilities: get your homework done; don’t bully; don’t cheat; be kind.

The key question is:

How do we get students to take the initiative – to be motivated – to handle those responsibilities well?

The key answer:

Motivation comes from finding a sense of meaning that goes beyond themselves. This is the key for students to be motivated to DO their best with tasks and BE their best with others.

It comes from an inner sense of meaning and purpose which is personal to each student. That’s where parents play a vital role.
